Hi, I’m Lorie Marrero, and today’s Clutter Video Tip is about saving time getting ready in the mornings. First, let’s talk about hairstyle. Obviously, I have a fairly low maintenance haircut, and that is on purpose. I used to spend a lot of time when I was younger with a blow dryer, hot rollers, lots of hairspray, lots of fuss, and I really didn’t want to spend my time that way anymore, especially after I had kids. I have found this is a great hairstyle for me; maybe you can have another hairstyle that would be better for you that would work with your hair, not against it, you could use fewer appliances, maybe fewer products, and I’m just asking the question, if you like your hair certainly keep it that way, but it’s something to consider.

Secondly, let’s talk about your makeup and your toiletries. We teach a concept that the most frequently used items should be in the most accessible places. So, for your makeup you might want to take the makeup that you use every single day, and put it all together in a bag or one drawer or one bowl so that you can easily grab it and get ready as fast as possible. This is mine. I have it in a bag because this is even great when I travel, I can just zip it up and go. This is not the stuff that I have that is, you know, the other colors that I might enjoy when I go out in the evening, that’s what I keep in another place. This is my everyday, super fast, get ready makeup bag right here.

Also, I have everything I need for both the morning and the night in this little bowl on my sink counter so that I have everything to wash my face or get ready, all of the toiletries I need in one place as well.

Also, you want to think in the morning about your closet, of course, so organizing your closet is very important to saving time so that you can see what you have; you can put outfits together more easily. We have our simple division garment organizers, and we sell those in our store at clutterdiet.com/simpledivision. These are also available at The Container Store. And the most popular labels that come with these dividers are too big/too small. So if you’re trying to manage various sizes due to weight loss or weight gain, or even maternity, this is a great solution for you, as well as any other reason you might want to create sections of clothing. Anybody can put your clothing away because it’s all labeled; it’s a great system that will really help you out.

Thanks a lot. See you next time, and may you always be happy and grateful for having more than enough.
