How Will You Spend Your “Leap Second?”

Pageasecond Evidently we are getting an extra second of time in 2008, due to the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service. A "Leap Second," if you will. I confess I am not glued to scientific journals and announcements– I only know this because Stephen Colbert talked about it on his show this week (click here for the clip and skip to 2:05). He showed us how he plans his whole year down to the second with his "page-a-second planner." This photo here shows him referencing his planner for "today."

This week in our Weekly Plan for our members we are taking time to choose a new calendar for 2009. Here are some favorites that we like:

  • The Whomi calendar: It has multiple color-coded rows to track various people's schedules within a family or various categories of activities in your life. Great for busy moms!
  • The BusyBodyBook: very similar to the Whomi. It's a personal preference thing. I like their magnetic fridge pad!
  • Cozi.com: An electronic family calendar that also keeps grocery lists and other handy information accessible via text message.
  • Planner Pads: Favorite of many… keeps tasks and appointments in a funnel format on the page.

Whether you prefer a "page-a-second" view or a week-at-a-glance, it's time to think about making a change for 2009 to manage your time and priorities better. I use Outlook and synchronize it with my Blackberry. What is your favorite calendar and page view format, and why?  Share in the comments!

I like 30boxes. For managing my calendars where I need more heavy duty sharing amongst a group of people (for my parent group and my soccer team), I use Qlubb. It’s been pretty awesome.
